Striving For Emotional Impact
During my time in university, I developed a strong interest in exploring the philosophical and moral questions surrounding the use of drone strikes. I embarked on a project that aimed to raise awareness by juxtaposing images of affected areas with worry-free city life to create a powerful emotional impact on viewers.
My intention was to initiate conversations that were not happening, and the project served as a focused effort to increase awareness on this important issue. The project comprised of various elements such as projections on city streets shaped like drone silhouettes, posters, a website, and a motion graphic, among others.
To create the opening drone scene, I taught myself 3D modeling in Blender, which is a testament to my willingness to challenge myself and learn new skills. As evidenced in the screenshots, I successfully integrated my newfound skills to create a compelling visual representation of my message.
While I believe that there is always room for improvement, I am extremely proud of the video and the first-class grade that the project received. If I were to revisit the project today, I would incorporate more motion in the middle section of the video while ensuring that the audio remains a critical component of the overall message.
